January 23, February 6th/20th and Beyond – ‘Viking Wine Festival’

One Bellevue, the award-winning restaurant at Hotel Viking in Newport, has announced the Viking Wine Festival, a sequence of exceptional winemaker-hosted dinners featuring some of the top personalities from the world of wine.

The Viking Wine Festival is modeled after the internationally acclaimed Boston Wine Festival, created by Chef Daniel Bruce. Each winter Chef Bruce brings some of the world’s most renowned winemakers to the Boston Harbor Hotel, Boston’sonly waterfront Forbes Five-Star hotel, for a series of intimate winemaker-hosted dinners, seminars and receptions. The Boston Wine Festival, now in its 27thseason, has become the nation’s longest running food and wine festival.

Held twice a month from January to March, the Viking Wine Festival will launch on January 23 and end on March 19, 2016.  Structured to include many of the winemakers attending the Boston Wine Festival, the creation of the Viking Wine Festival now offers a unique and exciting wine and food series in Rhode Island.

Featured winemakers will pair their wines with a four-course prix-fixe menu designed by Chef Barry Correia of One Bellevue. Keeping true to the Festival’s long-time approach of tasting the wines first, then developing the menu based on the flavor profiles, Chef Correia will work with each winemaker to craft a menu that showcases Rhode Island’s harvests and flavors. Each menu will present pairings that best enhance the flavors of both the featured wine and food.

The 2016 Viking Wine Festival includes award-winning wineries and celebrated personalities from the wine world.

The schedule is as follows:
