1 – Olde Town Ghost Walk

2 – Carved In Stone Tour

Saturdays in October at 4 p.m. 

Carved in Stone is a 90 minute walking tour of the Common Burying Ground, Newport Rhode Island’s oldest and largest colonial burying ground.

See interesting grave carvings, discover the final resting place of Newport’s famous and infamous souls and journey back to the early days of Newport, where the oldest known graves dates to 1672. The souls of the Common Burying Ground have been waiting to see you, some for 300 years!

3 – Murder At The Museum…With The Revolver

Saturdays in October at 7pm

It’s 1896 and a few of Newport’s wealthy elite have stayed behind in Newport to avoid a few, unspoken scandals. To keep entertained, Mrs. Astor is hosting Parlor Game nights every Saturday. This week, it’s a murder mystery at the John N.A. Griswold House, and YOU will be part of the action as a character. When someone actually dies, you must search the house for clues and interrogate the suspects. Do you have what it takes to solve the crime?

4 – Ballard Park Movie Night

Saturday, October 17th

For the past two weeks the public has voted on which movies they’d like to see at the 2nd Annual People’s Credit Union’s Halloween Movie Night at Ballard Park.

Friends of Ballard Park has announced the winners are Hotel Transylvania and Young Frankenstein.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, October 17th.  In addition to the two movies, the evening will include a Halloween costume parade and contest, a meet and greet with members of the Newport Fire Department and give-away of daffodil bulbs by Newport Daffodillion. Free event. More Info

5 – Fortress Of Nightmares

Fortress Of Nightmares, Newport’s premier haunted attraction, will return to Fort Adams State Park on October 16th, 17th, 18th, 23th, 24th and 25th. The event is scheduled to take place nightly from 6pm-10pm.

The 2015 event will feature Tunnels Of Terror, Haunted Officers Quarters, Fort Adams Zombie Hunter Challenge (Laser Tag), Beer Graveyard & Frightful Food Trucks, Killer Film Festival & Horror Art Gallery and a Kids Area. For those looking for more information or to purchase tickets, visit www.halloween.fortadams.org.

6 – Photographing Stones and Souls in the Common Burial Ground

Saturday, October 31st at 11am

Learn about site-specific photography techniques while hearing about the burial grounds unique history. This tour is appropriate for photographers of all skill levels. The ground is uneven, proper footwear is recommended. Dont forget your camera, cell phone or tablet to capture images.

7 – Fort Adams Will Appear on Syfy’s ‘Ghost Hunters’

Fort Adams State Park will be featured on Ghost Hunters on October 14th at 9:00pm on Syfy . Fort Adams Trust will host an exclusive episode screening in the very spot inside Fort Adams that will appear in the episode, but the only way to get in to this event is by winning an invitation. You can join  Fort Adams Trust for the big reveal by entering their contest here
