On Sunday morning, more than 3,000 runners will gather at Fort Adams for the 5th annual Newport 10 Miler. The event, which is produced by Gray Matter Marketing, has sold out every year since 2015, including this year. The Gray Matter Marketing team says they will have participants from 34 states and 11 countries at this iconic Newport running experience.

The 2017 Newport 10 Miler benefits the Fort Adams Trust and Boys and Girls Club of Newport County. “We’re proud to donate a portion of every registration fee to these two fantastic organizations,” says Matt Gray, President of Gray Matter Marketing. “This year, we’re able to contribute more than $20,000 to these two causes.”

When the starting gun fires at 7:30 am on Sunday, the largest field of runners to date for this event will exit Fort Adams, turn right onto Harrison Avenue and follow a looped route that takes them on a scenic tour of some of Newport’s most famous vistas. “The course is one of the most iconic, scenic race venues in the country, from the waterfront Ocean Drive portion to running in front of Marble House, Rosecliff and the other beautiful Bellevue Avenue properties,” says Gray. “The run culminates in a picture-perfect finish through Fort Adam’s North Gate and on to the parade field.”

A team of 100 volunteers from a variety of local organizations will be helping with registration, on-course water stations, set up and clean up. KIND Snacks, Noosa Yoghurt, High Brew Coffee and Polar Seltzer will be providing free snacks and beverages for participants, while Harpoon Brewery will be serving beer for runners over 21 years old following the race. A number of other local vendors, including Run Newport, Focal Upright Furniture and Newport Physical Therapy will be on site as well.
