The International Yacht and Athletic Club has presented a $13,000 check to Meals on Wheels of Rhode Island from donations collected at its 2026 Rhody Regatta.
The May 31 race sent boats from 30 to 66 feet on an 18-nautical-mile circumnavigation of Conanicut Island. Organizers had set a $10,000 target.
Joe Brito’s J/121 Incognito, out of Bristol, was the top fundraising team and also won overall on corrected time and took first in PHRF 2. The C.B. Utility Foundation was the top donor and Doug Sabetti the top individual fundraiser.
“Sailing has given so much to our community that we feel it’s only appropriate to give something back,” said Mick Harvey, IYAC co-owner and the regatta’s event chair.
Meals on Wheels of Rhode Island delivers more than 480,000 meals a year to over 5,500 residents, according to Executive Director Meg Grady, who thanked the club and the regatta’s sailors for naming the organization this year’s beneficiary.
The IYAC has run the regatta since it started in 2023.
