Registration opened Thursday for Save The Bay’s BayCamp, a week-long summer program that immerses young people in the marine environment of Narragansett Bay.
The camps, offered for students who have completed grades K-12, take place in Providence, Newport, Wickford and Bristol. They focus on environmental and marine sciences while allowing campers to explore shorelines and learn about local species and habitats.
“Summers on Narragansett Bay are magical,” said Bridget Kubis Prescott, Save The Bay’s director of education. “At BayCamp, campers spend their days exploring the shoreline, splashing through marsh mud, and swimming in secret spots around the Bay.”
The organization offers four programs based on grade level: Junior BayCamp for students who have completed grades K-1, BayCamp for grades 2-4, Shipboard Camp for grades 5-7 and High School Camp for grades 8-12.
Junior BayCamp is offered in Providence and Newport. BayCamp and Shipboard Camp are available at all four locations. High School Camp is offered only in Providence.
Camp costs $375 per week for Save The Bay members and $400 per week for non-members. A limited number of full scholarships are available for camps in Providence and Newport.
Registration and information are available at savebay.org/camps.
