Newport Harbor

Newport residents can boost their paddling skills and water safety knowledge through free workshops this May, courtesy of the Newport Harbormaster’s office.

The Newport Harbormaster and the American Canoe and Kayak Association lead this workshop. They’re designed to help participants enjoy safe kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding experiences.

There are two sessions to choose from:

  • Sunday, May 18, 10 a.m. to noon
  • Monday, May 19, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Both workshops take place at Newport Yacht Club, 110 Long Wharf.

The workshops cover key paddling techniques, gear advice, maintenance tips, and local launch locations. Participants will also learn about safety measures, new state rules, and best practices for on-water activities.

These land-based workshops welcome all skill levels – from newcomers to seasoned paddlers looking to sharpen their skills or share their experience.

Spots are limited, so if you’re interested, email NewportPaddles@cityofnewport.com to register.
