Portsmouth High School’s boys basketball team started their 2024-25 season with a bang, beating Middletown 70-37 at home on Thursday night.

The Patriots now stand at 1-0 to kick off the season.

Portsmouth’s next game is set for Saturday, Dec. 14, when they welcome Cumberland High School to their court.

Middletown (0-1) is scheduled to play Coventry at home on Monday, Dec. 16.

In other local basketball news, Rogers High School also grabbed a win Thursday night, narrowly defeating The Prout School 54-51.

The Vikings (1-0) are hitting the road for their next matchup against North Providence High School on Tuesday, Dec. 17, at 7 p.m.
