Rhode Island Secretary of State Gregg Amore declared the 2024 General Election a success, stating that Rhode Islanders turned out in high numbers and that the election process ran smoothly.
Amore’s statement comes as the final ballots are still being processed. However, he highlighted the high level of interest in the election, noting that more than 170,000 voters cast their ballots early in person. In the first presidential election with early voting since the pandemic, 170,000 voters voted in-person before Election Day.
The Secretary of State expressed his satisfaction with the performance of election officials, stating that they “rose to the challenge and kept our processes moving smoothly.” He also praised the role of poll workers who volunteered their time to ensure the election’s success.
Amore emphasized the importance of preserving and expanding early voting options in future elections, stating that Rhode Islanders clearly appreciate the convenience and flexibility it offers.
Addressing the concerns of election fraud, Amore remarked that the claims that were prevalent in 2020 and leading up to the 2024 election have seemingly disappeared. He expressed hope that this would lead Rhode Islanders and Americans to recognize the truthfulness of free, fair, and accurate elections in the country.
Amore concluded his statement by looking forward to continuing his work with election officials to preserve and strengthen democratic processes in the years to come.
