I met Xay during his first run for City Council in 2022 when he knocked on my door. I was impressed with his vision for Newport, a vision that takes us forward.
Since our first meeting, I have attended events where Xay answered questions presented to him by members of the community. These questions were unprompted and on a wide range of issues: the new City Manager, the sewer and infrastructure concerns, the Bond. Xay isn’t afraid to answer the tough questions. He will always answer comprehensively, with a clear and deep understanding of the topic. I trust the answers I get from Xay.
You don’t need to attend an event to hear Xay answer questions or explain City decisions. I appreciate that Xay communicates transparently across a wide variety of forums on a regular basis. Whether it’s online live-streams, social media, emails, paper or in-person, Xay makes himself available to hear from us wherever we are.
Xay is a transparent and honest communicator, which is why I am voting for him for City Council At-Large.
