Autumn Arts Open House at the Jamestown Arts Center

Celebrate Fall with the Jamestown Arts Center during the annual Autumn Arts Open House on Sunday, October 20, from 1 to 4 p.m. Participate in make-and-take art activities for all ages, check out artist demonstrations in the studios, enjoy seasonal refreshments, and more.

“This free, all ages event is a great way to explore the JAC studios, meet some of our wonderful artist instructors, and make art!” explains Alex Tsocanos, JAC’s Interim Education Director. “As a parent, Jamestowner, and arts educator, it’s one of my favorite afternoons.”

Christine Cocca, JAC Executive Director, adds, “Whether you’re at the JAC every week or haven’t even been in, the Open House is a good excuse to come see what’s happening at the JAC.”

Drop-in activities will be led throughout the building with teaching artists Lisa Barsumian, Rosemary Burns, Brooke Erin Goldstein, Casey Weibust, and instructors from our sister studio Out of the Box Studio and Gallery. Art activities include collage, monotype printmaking with water-based material, line drawings, spin art on the pottery wheels, clay medallions, and more! This year, we’ll also offer age-appropriate crafts for the youngest artists–toddlers around 18 months and up.

All activities are free and open to all ages. Stop by or stay for the afternoon!

Late Fall art classes for adults, teens, and kids begin October 21 and include printmaking, ceramics, drawing, 3D modeling, painting, writing, and more. Scholarships are available to students of all ages.

Autumn Arts Open House is supported by grants from the Jamestown Education Foundation and the Rhode Island Foundation’s Newport County Fund, with thanks to the Hard Pressed Cider Company for donuts and cider.
