The bipartisan Constitutional Convention Commission meets Wednesday, Aug. 21, in order to hear and discuss information pertaining to the commission’s charge.

The commission is charged with gathering information on constitutional questions that will appear on the Nov. 5 ballot. The commission will hear from a variety of sources, including campaign finance and ballot advocacy groups, and learn about the cost of holding a constitutional convention.

No public testimony will be taken at the meeting. However, written testimony is welcome and can be submitted via email to constitutionalconventioncommission@rilegislature.gov. Written testimonies must include a name, organization, and the party’s viewpoint.

The meeting will be televised by Capitol Television on Cox Communications, channels 15 and 61 for high definition; i3 Broadband (formerly Full Channel) on 15; and Verizon, on channel 34.

On the Nov. 5 ballot, voters will be asked if a convention should be held.
