Newport Polo announced Visiting Nurses Home & Hospice as the beneficiary of its 23rd annual charity gala, Argentango Fandango, Presented by BD on Friday, August 2, 2024, to fete the Argentine Polo Team at Rosecliff.

“As a small community, Newport has a highly diverse population that has always enriched the fabric of life here. Our efforts this year are to ensure sound health in the earliest years to strengthen developing newborns, enabling children to thrive and grow up to be healthy adults. We owe each new member of our community a fighting chance,” said Dan Keating, Newport Polo President and gala MC, in a statement. “Therefore, it is an honor to collaborate with the Visiting Nurses Home & Hospice in supporting its Maternal Child Health Program, and we are thrilled to receive support from BD as presenting sponsor, Redfin Premier as Entertainment Sponsor, Brenton Hotel as the Official Gala Hotel and Tito’s Handmade Vodka, helping make this year’s event the best it can be while achieving the most important thing we can do as a society – invest in our youth.”

“We are thrilled to receive this opportunity and support from the generous polo community,” said Betty Cares, Chief Advancement Officer for Visiting Nurses Home & Hospice. “Funds raised will shore up VNH&H’s Maternal Child Health Program (MCH) budget for the next year, providing children and their families with high quality, skilled home healthcare from experienced pediatric nurses. This service has been part of our mission since we were founded nearly 75 years ago here in Newport, and we are the only agency doing this specialized work in Newport County. We work closely with Newport Hospital’s Birthing Center, local pediatricians and OB/GYNs to seek out parents and babies in need of highly skilled assistance for example: a baby may not be gaining weight or meeting appropriate milestones or may have been exposed to opioids or other harmful substances during gestation. The in-home services we provide at this stage of a child’s life prevent more complicated health and developmental issues and address the social issues that are often times the precursor to SIDS, child abuse, learning challenges, risks for poverty, and much more.”

Tickets to Argentango Fandango are sold out, but an exciting gala pre-party at the prestigious Brenton Hotel rooftop welcomes additional attendees by RSVP to experience the excitement that will descend upon Newport that weekend with the Argentina Polo Team on Friday, Aug 2, 2024.

The gala weekend’s festivities continue the following day – Saturday, August 3rd – the Newport International Polo Series will feature USA vs. Argentina at 5pm. Spectators will be treated to a thrilling 2-hour polo match, followed by the Polo Club’s annual Lobsterfest, a favorite New England tradition to conclude the festivities. Don’t wait to reserve your tickets to complete your weekend – they will sell out far in advance. Visit Schedule/Tickets for all upcoming events.
