Congressman Amo submits Declaration of Candidacy

Today, Congressman Gabe Amo (RI-01) filed his Declaration of Candidacy for Rhode Island’s First Congressional District in 2024’s election.

“While it seems like it was just yesterday, it’s been over 200 days since I was sworn into Congress to serve as a voice for Rhode Islanders in Washington,” said Congressman Amo. “Each one of those days has been an honor and privilege. From my working class upbringing in Pawtucket to working at the highest levels of government, I’ve had the range of experiences necessary to be an effective congressman for our communities from day one. I’m running for re-election because we have much more work to do to deliver for Rhode Island.”

Since being elected to Congress, Congressman Amo’s office says that the Congressman “has focused on delivering resources to Rhode Island, providing first-rate constituent services, and meeting the unfinished legislative priorities of Rhode Islanders and the American people. Additionally, he has led on:

  • Ensuring that everyone can thrive in our economy by pushing for federal investments in our local innovation economy and to expand access to affordable housing.
  • Championing legislation to provide retirement security for our seniors by strengthening and expanding Social Security and Medicare.
  • Protecting reproductive freedom including a woman’s right to make her own health care decisions by fighting to restore Roe v. Wade.
  • Leading bills to protect our communities from the fear of gun violence by removing dangerous weapons from our streets.
  • Helping future generations escape the shadow of the climate crisis by supporting the clean energy revolution and securing federal resources for resilient infrastructure.
  • Advancing our democratic priorities across the world, confronting our international challenges, supporting our allies, and strengthening humanitarian aid”.
