The Newport Police Department has release more information regarding the incident that involved a man falling from the Cliff Walk on Thursday.

On October 13, 2016 Newport Police Department responded with the Newport Fire Department for a party that may have fallen from Cliff Walk. Upon arrival Newport Police and Fire located a male victim approximately 50 feet north of Webster Street that was partially submerged in the water. NFD and Police personnel descended the 60 foot cliff and began treating the 57 year old male party from Medfield, MA. He was subsequently transported to Rhode Island Hospital via Med-Flight. While being treated by Newport Fire Personnel the victim stated that he had in fact jumped from the overlook on his own and had not fallen.

Thanks to a quick response by the Newport Fire Department along with members of the Newport Police Department as well as Salve Security a tragedy was averted.
