Salve Regina University has promoted two senior administrators to vice president, President Kelli J. Armstrong announced Wednesday.
Lynne Mello becomes vice president for marketing and communications, and Michael Pimental becomes vice president for institutional affairs.
“Lynne and Mike have both been transformative in their roles; Mike in professionalizing our internal operations and Lynne on how Salve is perceived externally,” Armstrong said in a statement. “We are fortunate to have a stable and talented senior leadership team and it’s important that we recognize how valuable their contributions have been, and the expansion of their roles.”
Mello joined Salve in 2023 as chief marketing and communication officer. The university credits her with new branding work, a new website and digital marketing and content strategies that it says raised brand awareness and, working with the admissions office, increased applications, including from outside New England. She previously was associate vice president of marketing at Roger Williams University and vice president of marketing communications at TOMY, a toy and nursery products manufacturer.
Pimental joined Salve in 2022 as chief of staff in the Office of the President, working on operations, practices and reporting with the board of trustees and the senior leadership team. He also oversees human resources and risk management and works with the university’s general counsel. He spent 15 years at Boston College as executive director of planning and strategic services, and before that held senior human resources and employee relations roles in the health care and technology sectors.
Salve Regina, founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1947, enrolls more than 2,700 students in more than 60 academic programs and is home to the Pell Center for International Relations and Public Policy.
