John Miles, a talented musician and devoted father, who left us on July 24, 2026, at the age of 64 due to a tragic accident. Born in Pittsburgh, PA, John’s vibrant spirit and passion for music brought joy to many, particularly in the Newport community where he was a beloved performer and mentor.
John studied diligently, earning an Associate Degree before advancing his education at Columbia School of Broadcasting. He was not only an accomplished musician and vocalist, but also a skilled chef sharing his love for culinary arts with friends and family. His warm smile, infectious laughter, and undeniable talent made a lasting impact on everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
John is survived by his cherished son, Sulaymaan Qhadarr Abdulah Muhammad Miles and step children Danielle Knight, Antoinette Knight, Anthony Knight, Doris Knight Souza,who carries forward their father’s legacy of music, creativity and love. Siblings James Edward Miles Jr, Keith David Miles, Tina Miles-Coles, Chica Johnson and Lamar Miles. A host of grandchildren nieces and nephews.
In honor of John’s life and contributions to his community, a memorial service will be held in the future at a date to be announced. Family, friends, and admirers are invited to join in celebrating his life and the many ways he touched the hearts of those around him.
