The Tiverton Public Library will screen Buster Keaton’s “The Cameraman” with live piano accompaniment on Wednesday, Sept. 23, at 6 p.m. at 34 Roosevelt Ave. The program is free and open to the public.
Richard Hughes will introduce the film and play the score, drawing on the mood music that accompanied silent pictures in theaters. He performs at libraries and schools around New England.
In the film, a clumsy tintype photographer takes up newsreel work to get close to a woman at MGM, a plot Keaton fills out with jealous rivals, an organ grinder’s monkey and a fight in Chinatown. MGM later used the picture to train comedy directors.
Snacks will be served.
