If you’ve been following the local real estate market this summer, you’ve probably noticed things have settled into a more familiar rhythm. That’s typical for this time of year. August is often a bit of a lull as families squeeze in vacations, spend time on the water or at the beach, and make the most of the final weeks before school resumes in late August and early September.
With Labor Day falling later on the calendar this year, I expect that slower pace to continue for a few more weeks. Once everyone gets back into their routines, we’ll likely see another wave of inventory hit the market in early to mid-September as homeowners who chose not to list during the summer test the market with hopes of closing before the holidays and year-end. It’s a pattern we’ve seen before, and one that’s worth paying attention to if you’re planning a move.
That doesn’t mean the market is standing still. Well-priced homes continue to attract attention, and there are still some excellent opportunities for buyers who are prepared and willing to act when the right property comes along.
