The Preservation Society of Newport County will offer free admission to Newport County residents on two weekends this fall: Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 12-13, and Nov. 14-15.
The offer covers residents of Newport, Middletown, Portsmouth, Jamestown, Tiverton and Little Compton, along with personnel stationed at Naval Station Newport and their immediate families and Salve Regina University students. Proof of residence, military identification or a Salve student ID is required.
September’s weekend includes The Breakers, Marble House, Rosecliff, Chateau-sur-Mer and Green Animals Topiary Garden in Portsmouth. Rosecliff currently houses “Revolution Reimagined: Evolving Stories from Newport’s Past.” The November weekend covers The Breakers and Marble House.
All properties are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with last admission at 4 p.m., except Rosecliff, which closes at 4 p.m. with last admission at 3.
Specialty tours are not included, among them Beneath The Breakers, The Elms Servant Life and The Breakers Third Floor Preservation in Progress. Free audio tours are available through the Newport Mansions app, with children’s versions at The Breakers and Marble House; visitors should bring earbuds.
City of Newport residents receive free admission year-round with proof of residence.
