A new state housing dashboard launched Thursday shows Newport County has 14 developments totaling 658 housing units in predevelopment, under construction or completed with state support since 2021.
Newport accounts for the largest share, with five developments and 321 units. Middletown has four developments and 169 units, Portsmouth two and 94, Tiverton two and 62, and Jamestown one development with 12 units. Little Compton and New Shoreham appear nowhere in the data.
Statewide, the dashboard counts 155 developments and 8,305 units across 32 of Rhode Island’s 39 municipalities, of which 7,017 are affordable. Providence alone accounts for 46 developments and 2,574 units — nearly a third of the state total.

“Rhode Islanders deserve to see where and how we are investing in housing, and this new dashboard delivers that information in a way that is easily accessible and transparent,” Gov. Dan McKee said.
The State Incentivized Housing Development Dashboard tracks projects that received funding awards or closed financing through state housing incentive programs since 2021, with a municipality-by-municipality breakdown.
Secretary of Housing Deborah Goddard said the tool gives partners and the public a way to see the collective impact of state housing investments.
The dashboard is at housing.ri.gov/housing-dashboard.
