Police have identified the 80-year-old Middletown man who died Sunday night after being struck by a vehicle while crossing Coddington Highway as Ronald Moore.

Middletown Police and Fire personnel responded to the intersection of Coddington Highway and Underwood Lane at approximately 8:10 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 16, for a reported collision involving a pedestrian. First responders found Moore with critical injuries.

A preliminary investigation indicates he was crossing Coddington Highway from Underwood Lane when he was struck by a vehicle traveling westbound.

Middletown Fire personnel treated Moore at the scene before transporting him to Rhode Island Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. No arrests have been made and no citations issued.
