Dave Matthews Band will play the Amica Mutual Pavilion on Nov. 9 as part of a fall tour announced Tuesday, bringing the frontman back to Rhode Island less than four months after his unannounced solo appearance at the Newport Folk Festival.
Matthews made his Newport Folk debut on July 26, joining Nathaniel Rateliff & Friends during the festival’s closing set on the Fort Stage, alongside surprise guests Joan Baez and Mavis Staples. His appearance had not been announced before he walked on stage. Matthews joked about wanting to play Newport for years, opened with “Flowers,” played a short solo set, and danced with Baez.
The seven-date fall run opens Nov. 4 at the Kohl Center in Madison, Wis., and includes stops at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, the United Center in Chicago and CFG Bank Arena in Baltimore before closing with two nights at Madison Square Garden on Nov. 12 and 13. Providence is the fourth date.
A presale for members of the band’s Warehouse Fan Association is underway. General on-sale begins Friday, Aug. 21, at 10 a.m. local venue time.
The band resumes its summer tour Aug. 28 at Fiddler’s Green in Greenwood Village, Colo., wrapping with its traditional Labor Day weekend run at the Gorge Amphitheatre in Washington.
Dave Matthews Band has sold more than 25 million tickets since debuting in 1991. The band has partnered with environmental nonprofit REVERB for 21 years and supports The Nature Conservancy’s reforestation work, which it says will reach 7 million trees planted by the end of 2026.
