Jaws at The JPT

The Jane Pickens Theater’s annual Jaws Party is back this weekend, bringing Steven Spielberg’s 1975 classic back to the big screen in a new 4K restoration for three nights of shark-fueled summer celebration.

Tonight, Friday, July 17, The Teledynes — a surf rock and rockabilly trio of electric guitar, upright slap bass, and drums — perform starting at 6:30 p.m. before the film. Saturday, July 18, sea shanty and maritime music group Sharks Come Cruisin’ takes the pre-show slot at 6:30 p.m. Both nights doors open at 6 p.m. and the movie starts at 7:30 p.m. Party tickets are $20, or $18 for JPT members.

For those who want just the film, a screening-only showing runs Sunday, July 19, with doors at 3:30 p.m. and the movie at 4:30 p.m. Sunday tickets are $15, or $13 for members.

The events are sponsored by Narragansett Beer and presented with support from What’s Up Newp. Organizers are warning that last year’s screenings sold out — advance tickets are available at janepickens.com.
