Newport Police have released additional details on the shooting that occurred late Sunday evening in the Park Holm area, identifying the incident as targeted and isolated with no ongoing threat to the public.
Officers responded at approximately 9:55 p.m. Sunday to a report of shots fired near Truman Street and Rosedale Avenue. Once on scene, investigators determined the initial incident had taken place behind 41 and 43 Truman Road.
Two victims, both Newport residents ages 22 and 25, sustained non-life-threatening gunshot wounds to their lower extremities and were transported to the hospital for treatment.
“Preliminary findings indicate this was a targeted, isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat to the general public,” police said.
