Newport Classical has announced its 2026-2027 Chamber Series, a twelve-concert season running from September through June at Newport Classical Recital Hall at 42 Dearborn St. Tickets go on sale to the public August 4 at newportclassical.org.
The series opens September 18 with Invoke, a multi-instrumental quartet exploring American musical traditions from bluegrass and Appalachian fiddle to jazz and minimalism, with a program titled “American Voices” spotlighting composers including William Grant Still, Florence Price, and Duke Ellington in honor of the nation’s 250th anniversary.
The fall season continues with Trio Azura on October 9, the Rasa String Quartet on October 23 with a program weaving together jazz, bluegrass, Latin pop, Indigenous traditions, and classical favorites, pianist Michael Leonardo Davidman on November 6, and classical guitarist Raphaël Feuillâtre performing “Latin Passions” on November 20.
The new year brings cellist Sterling Elliott and pianist Elliot Wuu on January 29, flutist Anna Urrey and harpist Kristi Shade on February 19, the Dorian Wind Quintet on March 12, and Chelsea Guo — the first musician to win the Young Concert Artists auditions in both voice and piano — on April 9, performing Schumann’s Dichterliebe while accompanying herself on piano. Violinist Rubén Rengel and Friends celebrate Latin American music on April 23, followed by accordionist Radu Ratoi and violinist Alexandra Tirsu on May 7. The series closes June 4 with violinist Njioma Grevious.
“What makes this Chamber Series especially exciting is its sheer variety: twelve concerts, each with a completely different instrumentation, exploring musical forms from sonata to valse to tango,” said Newport Classical Executive Director Oliver Inteeworn.
All concerts are held on select Fridays at 7:30 p.m. Complimentary wine is served during intermission courtesy of Gold’s Wine and Spirits. Single tickets start at $45, with packages available. AARP members receive discounts, and a limited number of free student tickets are available through a grant from the Gruben Charitable Foundation.
Newport Classical will also present free family-friendly Community Concerts throughout the season, sponsored by BankNewport, with details to be announced. The 2027 Newport Classical Music Festival is set for July 1-18, 2027.
