The New England Music Organization will present The Seba Molnar Band and The John Monllos Trio at NIMFest 2026 on Sunday, August 2, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the King Park Gazebo, 125 Wellington Ave. The event is free and open to the public.
Headlining the afternoon is The Seba Molnar Band, a Boston-based contemporary jazz ensemble led by saxophonist, composer, and cultural organizer Seba Molnar. Grounded in jazz while drawing from funk, hip-hop, psychedelic rock, and global musical traditions, the band builds its live experience around improvisation, groove, and storytelling. The NIMFest lineup features Billy Buss on trumpet, Jiri Nedoma and David Ling on keyboards, Mike Gary on bass, and Tyson Jackson on drums. Beyond performing, Molnar is the founder of the Boston Jazz Foundation and creator of the Charles River Jazz Festival.
Opening the afternoon is The John Monllos Trio, featuring guitarist John Monllos — a longtime Newport performer and former member of the United States Navy Band — alongside vocalist Joanne Rodino, whose career has spanned Broadway, big bands, and contemporary styles, and veteran bassist Joe Potenza. The trio covers jazz standards, the Great American Songbook, blues, classic rock, and pop.
Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs. King Park is also accessible by paddlecraft. Alcohol is not permitted in the park, and the concert is weather permitting with no rain date scheduled. Parking in the area is limited; carpooling is encouraged.
