Sail Newport Dedicates Racing Education Center to Jason Titunik (Artwork Credit: Charlotte Handy)

Sail Newport will dedicate the building at 60 Fort Adams Drive as the Jason Titunik Racing Education Center in a ceremony Wednesday, June 24, at 2 p.m.

The building, located at the sailing center in Fort Adams State Park, was Sail Newport’s original main office and has recently been fully remodeled for use by racing sailors in Sail Newport programs and for racing education.

Jason Titunik began sailing in Sail Newport’s youth program at an early age and advanced to the Brenton Cove Racing Program. The organization remembered him as a young sailor who loved spending summer days rigging, racing and learning on and off the water with friends and coaches, and whose kindness and joyful spirit left a lasting impression. He died in a car accident in 2023 at age 19.

“We are confident that the Jason Titunik Racing Education Center will inspire sailors of all ages to embrace and excel at sailing and racing, just as Jason did,” said Eve Formisano, director of development for Sail Newport.

The event is open to the public, with RSVPs available on Sail Newport’s website. For more information, call Sail Newport at (401) 429-8258.
