Elizabeth Marie Watts, 81 of Freebody Street, Newport died Thursday, June 25, 2026, at the St. Clare Nursing Home in Newport.
Born September 29,1944, in Newport, she was the beloved daughter of the late Frank J. Watts, Jr. and Marie E. (Bucci) Watts.
Before her retirement, she excelled as a well-respected Executive Secretary for the Newport School Department at the Frank E. Thompson Middle School. Elizabeth was an avid nature lover and immensely enjoyed her local city politics. She spent many hours assisting at St. Mary’s Church in addition to various charities. Elizabeth also authored numerous articles of importance to her regarding her religious beliefs and her beloved City of Newport. She was often published in Newport This Week.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, July 2, at St. Mary’s Church, corner of Spring St. and Memorial Blvd, Newport at 10:00 AM. Burial with committal prayers will follow in the chapel at St. Columba Cemetery, 465 Browns Ln, Middletown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Joseph’s Church, 5 Mann Ave, Newport or to St. Clare-Newport, 309 Spring St, Newport, would be greatly appreciated.
