The Devil Wears Prada 2 is coming to The JPT (The JPT)

After tickets to its original premiere party sold out in record time, the Jane Pickens Theater: Film & Event Center has added an encore community celebration for “The Devil Wears Prada 2,” giving Newport audiences another chance to see one of the year’s most anticipated sequels.

The Friday, May 1 event is designed as a full-scale community celebration that blends cinema, style and local flair. Guests will walk a red carpet, pose at a step-and-repeat, sample themed cocktails and browse a curated pop-up from Newport boutique Little Chateau.

Local pop-rock band Motion Avenue will perform live at 7 p.m. to set the tone before the film begins at 8 p.m. Organizers said additional activations and community partnerships will be announced in the coming days.

Twenty years after the original film reshaped fashion on screen, “The Devil Wears Prada 2” reunites Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci in the high-stakes world of Runway Magazine. In the sequel, Miranda Priestly faces off against her former assistant Emily Charlton, now a powerful rival executive, in a battle for relevance and advertising dollars in a shifting media landscape — all while Miranda weighs the twilight of her career.

The film is directed by David Frankel, written by Aline Brosh McKenna and produced by Wendy Finerman.

With the first event selling out almost immediately, organizers expect the encore to follow suit and are encouraging guests to buy tickets early and dress to impress.
