The Jane Pickens Theater & Event Center (The JPT) will host a special screening of Solo Mio, a new romantic comedy starring Kevin James, on Wednesday, Feb. 26 at 7:30 p.m., featuring a live introduction and post-film Q&A with the film’s directors.
The 97-minute film follows a groom left stranded and heartbroken in Rome after a wedding disaster, whose ruined honeymoon takes an unexpected turn with the help of a determined local and a group of meddlesome vacationing couples. Critics are praising the film’s warmth and humor, calling it “a breezily enjoyable getaway” that leverages “Kevin James’ genial star power and gorgeous scenery from Rome for a disarmingly sweet take on recovering from heartbreak.”
Solo Mio is the latest collaboration between Kevin James and the Kinnane Brothers, a production company comprised of eight brothers from Little Compton. Directed by Charles and Daniel Kinnane and written by Patrick and John Kinnane, the film marks the group’s second feature with James, following Home Team, which hit No. 1 on Netflix in January 2022. The brothers first connected with James in 2018 and began working closely with him during the pandemic, when they quarantined together to produce the popular Sound Guy comedy shorts for his YouTube channel. The film also stars Kim Coates, Alyson Hannigan and Nicole Grimaudo.
Audiences at the Feb. 26 screening will have the opportunity to hear directly from Charles and Daniel Kinnane about the inspiration behind the story, the experience of filming in Rome, and what it was like working with the cast.
The screening comes as The JPT also presents several other upcoming offerings, including Paul McCartney: Man on the Run, screening Thursday, Feb. 19 through Sunday, Feb. 22, and the 2026 Oscar-Nominated Short Films: Animation, running Friday, Feb. 20 through Wednesday, Feb. 25.
