Victor Ruggeri hit a three-pointer at the buzzer in overtime to force a second extra period, and Rogers held on to defeat West Warwick 53-50 on Friday night at Rogers High School.

The Vikings trailed 26-14 at halftime before storming back with 25 second-half points to force overtime.

Juelz Peer led all scorers with 17 points for Rogers. He was one of three Vikings to hit clutch free throws in the second overtime, along with Keivan Rivera and Nechen Jones.

West Warwick led 15-8 after the first quarter and extended its advantage to 12 by the break.

Rogers tightened its defense in the third quarter, holding the Wizards to five points while scoring 13 to trim the deficit to 31-27.

The Vikings completed the comeback in the fourth, outscoring West Warwick 12-8 to knot the game at 39.

With seconds remaining in the first overtime and Rogers trailing by two, Ruggeri connected from beyond the arc as time expired.

Rogers controlled the second overtime, converting free throws down the stretch to secure the victory.
