Pauline Irving Tozer

Pauline Mary (Irving) Tozer, 97, of Wenham, MA passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 surrounded by loving family. She was born in Beverly on July 2, 1928, to the late Herbert and Etta (Prince) Irving. She graduated from Beverly High School with the Class of 1945. After high school, she attended Westbrook College earning her degree.

Pauline is survived by her daughter, Ellen Slade and her husband Whitney of Newport, RI; and her son, David Tozer and his wife Ellen of North Potomac, MD; her beloved grandchildren George (Rebekah) & Henderson Tozer (Julie), Lindsey Mooney (John) & Benjamin Slade (Courtney); and her great-grandchildren Grayson, Hunter, Ezra, Hayden & Wickham.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 50 years George Tozer, her sister Eileen and her husband Richard Sherman, brother Charles Irving and his wife Margaret, sister Barbara Burrow Busineau and her husband Marston, and sister Janet Gouzie and her husband Alistair.

Affectionately known as “Poady” by her sisters and family, and “Meema” by her grandchildren, Pauline’s sharp wit and sense of humor were a source of entertainment for all. She was an avid gardener and a wonderful baker, always making plenty of pies to share on weekends at the family Camp at Chebacco Lake. There were trips to Disney with the grandchildren, and ski trips to New Hampshire. She loved sewing, knitting and woodworking. Her outlook on life was always positive.

Pauline was on the Board of Harborlight House, now Harborlight Homes, an outreach commitment founded by the First Baptist Church in Beverly, to provide housing and services for elderly, families and individuals.

Pauline loved traveling the world with her husband, for business and pleasure. She had elongated stays in Trinidad and Thailand, as well as a time living in Palo Alto, CA, but being at home, surrounded by family was what she loved the most.

A funeral service will be held at 11:30 am on Monday, January 26th at the First Baptist Church, 221 Cabot Street, Beverly, MA. A graveside burial will follow at North Beverly Cemetery, 685 Cabot Street, Beverly, MA.
