50th Anniversary Harvest Fest at Sakonnet Vineyard this Weekend

Sakonnet Vineyard will mark its 50th anniversary with a two-day harvest festival Oct. 11-12, featuring live music, wine tastings, local vendors and family activities at the Little Compton winery.

The anniversary celebration is part of an expanded lineup of fall programming at the vineyard, located at 162 West Main Road. New England’s oldest vineyard opened in 1975 and is a pioneer of the Southeastern New England AVA.

The harvest festival kicks off Saturday, Oct. 11 with the Dave Alves Band performing from 1 to 4 p.m. The day will include a self-guided vineyard walking tour highlighting the winery’s history and sustainable practices, along with family activities such as a hay maze, pumpkin bowling, lawn games, pumpkin decorating and face painting.

On Sunday, Oct. 12, the annual Tiverton Farmers Harvest Market will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., featuring more than 75 vendors selling fresh and artisanal foods, fine art and handmade goods.

The market will include “Tent Talks” throughout the afternoon with local experts discussing beekeeping, regenerative farming and winemaking. The day concludes with “A Toast to 50 Years of Sakonnet Vineyard” at 3 p.m.

Earlier this month, the vineyard welcomed the Audrain Concours on Oct. 4, with approximately 180 automobiles parading through the property as part of Audrain Newport Concours & Motor Week 2025. Jay Leno attended the event.

The vineyard continues its fall music series each Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. through Nov. 29, with performances by regional artists including Stefan Couture on Oct. 18, Elise Black on Oct. 25 and the Bella Brothers on Nov. 1.

All events are free and open to the public. Wine tastings, seasonal food and lawn games are available during performances.
