Rail Explorers expects to welcome its 1 millionth rider Friday at 11 a.m. at its Rhode Island location in Portsmouth.
The milestone marks a decade of growth since the company launched the railbike industry in the United States in July 2015 in New York, according to a media advisory.
Rail Explorers started with seven pedal-powered railbikes and five employees. The company now operates seven locations around the country with a fleet of more than 200 railbikes and a team of 220 employees.
The 1 million rider count represents the total number of guests across all locations over the past 10 years. Rail Explorers operates in New York, Delaware, Rhode Island, Nevada, Iowa, Kentucky, West Virginia and California.
“This incredible achievement is a testament to the dedication of our loyal employees and the enthusiasm of our riders,” said Mary Joy Lu, Rail Explorers CEO. “We’re deeply grateful to the customers who continue to choose Rail Explorers for a unique and memorable adventure.”
Rail Explorers owners Lu and Alex Catchpoole have invited the public and media to join the celebration on Friday at 1 Alexander Road in Portsmouth.
The one millionth rider is expected to check in for the 11 a.m. tour at the Rhode Island location.
