La Salle Academy’s girls volleyball team overcame a mid-match stumble to defeat visiting Portsmouth 3-1 on Tuesday night, with the Rams taking sets 25-12, 16-25, and two additional sets to secure the victory.
The match began with La Salle asserting early dominance, cruising to a commanding 25-12 first-set win that showcased the home team’s offensive firepower.
However, Portsmouth responded with determination in the second set, mounting an impressive comeback to even the match with a decisive 25-16 victory that demonstrated the Patriots’ resilience.
The rally proved short-lived as La Salle regrouped to capture the final two sets and seal the four-set triumph.
Leading the offensive charge for La Salle was Maisey Natt, who paced the Rams with 10 kills on the night. Adrian Brzoza provided a well-rounded performance with 5 kills and a dominant 10 aces that helped control the tempo throughout the match.
Portsmouth’s attack was spearheaded by Peyton Winn, who tallied 7 kills to lead the Patriots’ offensive efforts. Grace Galvin contributed 6 kills in the losing effort.
The victory improves La Salle’s record as both teams continue their respective seasons in Rhode Island high school volleyball action.
