The Newport City Council meeting originally scheduled for Wednesday has been rescheduled to Monday, Sept. 15, at 6:30 p.m. at the Pell School Cafeteria, 35 Dexter St.
The city’s communications department announced the rescheduled meeting location and date Friday morning, noting the session was moved from its original Sept. 10 date. The meeting will be held at the school rather than the usual Council Chambers at City Hall.
The council will consider multiple contract awards, including police vehicle replacements, IT services upgrades, and copier leases. The meeting agenda also includes appointments to several municipal boards and commissions.
Items to be addressed include contracts for police vehicle and equipment replacements, managed IT services, and renovations to the Florence Gray Center using pandemic recovery funds. The consent calendar also includes approval of several fall special events and daily liquor licenses for upcoming community gatherings.
Editor’s Note: This story was updated Thursday to reflect the rescheduled meeting date and location.
