A 47-year-old Middletown woman suffered serious injuries Wednesday afternoon when her bicycle collided with a motor vehicle on Greene Lane, according to police.

The collision occurred around 4:00 p.m. near 92 Greene Lane, prompting responses from both Middletown Police and Fire departments. Emergency responders found the female cyclist with serious injuries at the scene.

Middletown Fire personnel transported the woman to Rhode Island Hospital, where she remains in serious but stable condition as of Wednesday evening.

The Middletown Police Accident Investigation Unit has launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash. Police report that the driver of the vehicle involved is cooperating fully with investigators.

No arrests or citations have been issued at this time, as the investigation remains ongoing, according to Major Cliff McGregor of the Middletown Police Department.
