NEWPORT, R.I. — The Providence-based DownCity Band will bring their high-energy sound to Newport’s historic King Park Gazebo on Sunday as part of the 2025 NIMFest concert series.

The free, family-friendly performance runs from 3 to 6 p.m. at the gazebo located at 125 Wellington Ave. The concert marks the penultimate show in this summer’s Newport Independent Music Festival lineup.

Led by bass player and manager David Wilson, the award-winning eight-piece ensemble is known for passionate performances featuring rich vocal harmonies, powerful horns and a tight rhythm section designed to keep audiences dancing.

The 2025 NIMFest series, supported by the Hamilton Family Foundation, concludes Aug. 24 with Guess Method featuring Helena Rose.

NIMFest has become a popular summer concert series celebrating local and regional artists in Newport’s scenic waterfront setting. The event is produced and promoted by North End Entertainment and the New England Music Organization, and presented by the Hamilton Family Foundation and the City of Newport.

Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs for the outdoor concert experience. Organizers recommend carpooling due to limited parking. Alcohol is prohibited in the park.

All NIMFest concerts are weather permitting. For more information, visit NewEnglandMusic.org or NorthEndEntertainment.com.

The New England Music Organization is a nonprofit dedicated to supporting musicians and fostering music community development across the region through advocacy, education and performance opportunities.
