With profound memories, we announce Captain Charles F. Weishar, our uncle, grand uncle, great grand uncle, and dear friend, has passed.
Charles was born in Milwaukee, WI, on November 9, 1928 to his parents Maria & William Weishar. He passed away at his home during the early hours of June 24, 2025, at the age of 96, in Newport, RI.
Charles led a full life dedicated to service of our country for 33 years in the US Navy. His career included many different assignments home and abroad. Charles received multiple accommodations including: the Nation Defense Service Medal w/ Bronze Star, Defense Superior Service Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal (2), Legion of Merit (2), and Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany. He retired with the rank of US Navy Captain on June 30, 1984.
In retirement, he was active in the Newport, RI community, pursuing various hobbies including cooking, horticulture, Webster’s Dictionary lexicographer, and being a talented classical pianist.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents and six siblings: Elizabeth, Sister Mathias, William, Father Paul, Anne, and Frances.
Charles is survived by his many nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, great grand nieces, great grand nephews, close friends in the Newport area, and friends across the globe.
Services will be private.
