newportFILM raised more than $375,000 at its 15th Anniversary Summer Benefit on July 19, supporting the organization’s year-round documentary film programming and educational initiatives.
Hundreds of guests gathered at IYRS’s Restoration Hall in Newport for the organization’s largest annual fundraiser. The event was presented by the Stratus Foundation/FlyAdvanced, with additional support from The Newport Experience and BankNewport.
Attendees enjoyed wines selected by Gold’s Wine and Spirits and passed canapés by McGrath’s Clambake and Catering while celebrating newportFILM’s mission to build community and inspire change through documentary film.
Proceeds from the Summer Benefit will support newportFILM’s signature programs, including its popular Outdoors series, as well as year-round screenings and educational initiatives such as Edu, docUnbound and the Cinematography Lab.
The organization’s year-round programming receives support from partners including Kirby Construction, Park South NYC, Starkweather & Shepley and the Stratus Foundation/FlyAdvanced. The 2025 Outdoors series is presented by Lila Delman Compass, with additional support from A1 Roofing and Construction, BankNewport and Hammetts Hotel. The organization’s 15th Anniversary Sponsor is 11th Hour Racing.
The 2025 Outdoors series continues weekly screenings every Thursday through Aug. 28 at Newport locations including Rough Point, Newport Polo Grounds and Marble House. Each screening features live music, local food vendors and pre-film conversations with special guests.
This year’s lineup includes appearances by musician Kenny Loggins, supermodel and actress Carol Alt, NASA scientist and author Gentry Lee, and filmmakers Jesse Moss and Amanda McBain.
