Newport City Hall

The Newport City Council will convene two meetings Wednesday evening (July 30) including a workshop on council rules and a special session to address a housing matter.

The council workshop, scheduled for 5:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at City Hall, 43 Broadway, will focus on the rules of the council. The meeting notice was posted July 22.

Immediately following the workshop, the council will hold a special meeting to consider Action Item No. 6469/25 regarding the Gallagher Wing and the city’s right of first refusal for ownership transfer to the Newport Housing Authority. The item also involves renovations to the Florence Gray Center-Pandemic Recovery Office CPF-CLC and includes an accompanying resolution.

The special meeting was called pursuant to Section 2-17 of the City Charter. The meeting docket was prepared by City Clerk Laura C. Swistak.

Both meetings will take place in the City Council Chambers at City Hall, located at 43 Broadway.

The public is invited to attend both sessions, which are part of the council’s regular governance activities under the city charter.
