Surv, a home services platform started by a college student in Little Compton, is gearing up for a nationwide expansion through a major franchise partnership announced today.

The company, originally called Rent Sons, was launched by Patrick Brown at 18 to help cover his University of Rhode Island tuition. It’s now teaming up with Cornerstone Franchise Brands and BrandONE Franchise Development to grow across the United States.

Brown, who’s been CEO for 15 years, is stepping into the founder role as part of this expansion.

“This partnership blows me away,” Brown shared. “To go from knocking on doors in my small coastal town, helping seniors with yard work to earn money for college… to now partnering with leaders who’ve built brands like ServiceMaster®, The Home Depot, CertaPro Painters, and Re-Bath—it feels surreal.”

The collaboration combines Surv’s mission-driven approach with the franchising know-how of industry heavyweights. Cornerstone and BrandONE are bringing top-notch back office systems, funding, strategic infrastructure, and over a century of combined home service franchising experience to the table.

Surv’s membership-based platform aims to bring respect to local work, support young adults, and look after aging neighbors. The company is now getting ready to launch in several U.S. markets.

“I’ve always believed meaningful work has the power to change lives,” Brown said. “My first tagline of ‘Quality service at the cost of an allowance without the complaining of an actual Son’ has really grown beyond that.” That belief started on a rake and a promise to my neighbors. Today, with the right partners, it’s growing into a national movement.
