Johnston High School’s Haley Boudreau dominated on the mound, leading her team to a 4-0 victory over Portsmouth High School in a softball matchup on Tuesday (May 13).

Wearing jersey number 1, Boudreau threw a shutout and racked up an impressive 17 strikeouts. The game marked a special milestone for the pitcher as she notched her 500th career strikeout.

The Patriots struggled to generate offense against Boudreau’s stellar performance at their home field. Barbara Rainey, number 23, provided a glimmer of hope for Portsmouth with a double and a single.

Mary Rainey had 13 strikeouts on the mound for Portsmouth in the loss.

This road win builds momentum for Johnston, while Portsmouth looks to bounce back in its upcoming games. The loss impacts Portsmouth’s record as it continues its season.
