Free Cone Day at Ben & Jerry’s in Newport brought in $1,509 for the Newport Public Education Foundation, Inc.

The April 8 event raised money through “upsales” like waffle cones and extra scoops of ice cream, with proceeds going to the foundation.

On May 8, Tyler Rosenberg and Mickie Deary from Newport Ben & Jerry’s handed over the check to NPEF board members.

Several foundation board members were there for the check presentation, including Mary Beth Pike, Maureen Mooney, Nancy Horsey, Kimberly Behan, Gene Thompson-Grove, Sara Peters, Sarah Lui, Bette Reed and Robert Power.

The Newport Public Education Foundation, Inc. is a nonprofit that works to improve educational opportunities for students in Newport’s public schools.
