Nathan Sena, a Middletown resident, has clinched the 2025 APA 8-Ball Classic Pool Championship in Las Vegas, walking away with a $15,000 prize package.
Sena beat out nearly 6,000 competitors from across North America to win the Orange Tier of the championship.
The tournament, part of the American Poolplayers Association’s (APA) Poolplayer Championships, took place April 27-29 at the Westgate Las Vegas.
A regular in the local APA League in Middletown, Sena was among just 883 players who made it to the national finals.
The APA stated, “Nathan Sena competed in the Orange Tier of the 8-Ball Classic and received a cash and prize package worth $15,000 and ultimate bragging rights upon returning home to his local poolroom.”
The championship is divided into five tiers based on skill level. Sena’s final match was streamed live and can be watched online.
Based in Lake Saint Louis, Mo., the APA runs the world’s largest amateur pool league. Over 250,000 members compete in weekly 8-Ball and 9-Ball League play across the U.S. and Canada.
The organization hosts three major tournaments each year: the APA World Pool Championships, the APA Poolplayer Championships, and the U.S. Amateur Championship.
Aramith, Action Cues, Diamond Billiard Products, Kamui Tips and PoolDawg.com sponsor the APA and its championships.
