Sweet Berry Farm is changing ownership, but its core values and community ties remain intact.
Jan and Michelle Eckhart, who founded and have long owned the farm, shared the news on Facebook Saturday. They’re handing over the reins to a new team that shares their vision for the 100-acre property.
“We’ve got some exciting news to share: We’re passing the torch to new owners who love this land as much as we do and are committed to keeping Sweet Berry the special place it’s always been,” the Eckharts said.
While ownership is changing, day-to-day operations at the farm will stay largely the same. Jan Eckhart will still be driving his tractor, and Michelle will oversee operations to make sure the farm’s unique character stays intact.
“When we started this journey back in 1980, we had no idea how much the farm would grow—or how much we’d come to value the relationships we’ve built with all of you,” the couple shared.
The Eckharts expressed their thanks for years of support and their excitement about the farm’s future.
Sweet Berry Farm plans to reopen for the season in late May, welcoming visitors back to enjoy its offerings under the new ownership.
“Thanks for being part of our story—and for helping us write the next chapter,” the Eckharts said, emphasizing their commitment to a smooth transition and continuing Sweet Berry Farm’s legacy.
The new owners have not been identified.
