Newport’s shoreline is getting ready for its yearly spruce-up as Friends of the Waterfront (FOW) prepares for the 26th Annual King Park Earth Day Cleanup on Saturday, Apr. 26.
The event runs from 9:30 a.m. to noon, and the community is invited to pitch in to help beautify the park and protect the harbor’s ecosystem.
FOW, a non-profit that’s been working to keep Newport’s waterfront accessible to the public since 1982, organizes this cleanup as part of its ongoing commitment to the community and environment.
Anyone can join in, regardless of age. The cleanup along the shoreline and park areas lasts about two hours. FOW will have gloves, trash grabbers, and bags on hand for volunteers.
Volunteers should dress for the weather and bring their own water bottles. There’ll be coffee, donuts, and refreshments for everyone helping out.
