A 33-year-old woman from Bridgewater, Massachusetts is facing DUI charges after being arrested by Portsmouth Police on Sunday, March 23. The incident involved a child passenger in the vehicle.

Kaleigh Maraglia was pulled over around 9:36 p.m. while driving north on Route 24 near Sprague Street in Portsmouth. Police noticed her car following another vehicle too closely, changing lanes improperly, and drifting between lane markers.

During the traffic stop, officers smelled alcohol on Maraglia’s breath and found an 8-year-old child in the car. A search of the vehicle turned up open alcohol containers.

Maraglia failed field sobriety tests at the scene and was taken into custody. At the Portsmouth Police Headquarters, she agreed to a chemical breath test, which she also failed.

The Portsmouth Police Department has charged Maraglia with two counts of DUI: one for driving with a blood alcohol content between .10 and .15, and another for driving under the influence with a child under 13 in the car.

Police issued Maraglia citations from the Rhode Island Traffic Tribunal and a district court summons. She was released and is scheduled for arraignment at the 2nd Division District Court on June 3, 2025.
