The Rhode Island Turnpike & Bridge Authority is rolling out lane closures and traffic changes on several bridges from March 30 to April 5, 2025.

Heads up for Newport Claiborne Pell Bridge users: major disruptions started this morning (Friday).

Beginning Friday, March 28 at 9:00 A.M., eastbound traffic will be reduced to a single lane until Monday, March 31, at 6:00 A.M.

Beginning Friday evening, March 28, at 6:00 PM, crews will shift the median barrier to create a one-lanein-each-direction traffic pattern that will remain in place throughout the weekend until Monday, March 31, at 6:00 AM.

Eastbound Left Lane Closure- 3/31 to 4/4- 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Westbound Left Lane Closure- 3/31 to 4/4- 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

If you’re crossing the Jamestown Verrazzano Bridge, the westbound right lane will be closed from March 31 to April 3, 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. each day.

The Route 138 Connector is set for overnight lane closures on March 31. Both eastbound and westbound right lanes will be shut from 5 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Good news for Mount Hope Bridge and Sakonnet River Bridge travelers: no lane closures are planned at the moment.
