East Providence secured a spot in the state final after beating Tiverton 60-46 in the Rhode Island Interscholastic League girls basketball tournament semifinal on Thursday night.

The game saw Tiverton make a strong push in the second half after being down at halftime.

Tiverton’s defense tightened up in the second quarter, putting the brakes on East Providence’s offense. This defensive stand set the tone for Tiverton’s comeback attempt after halftime.

Even though Tiverton stepped up their game in the later stages, East Providence held onto their lead and clinched the win.

With this victory, East Providence moves on to the state final, set to take place at the Amp in Providence.
